Hello, looking to buy 2 new 1/10 trucks for my sons 6 and 7. Tired of spending money on the toy store junk and would like to get something in the hobby class with parts that can be replaced. Would like to spend less than $225 per kid for everything...truck, battery, charger. (Why aren’t the controllers rechargeable?). looking for waterproof components and throttle control (training mode). Spent some time searching the internet and looking at a variety of reviews. Some of the models/ brands that seem to come forward are Traxxus stampede/ rustler/ revo, ecx ruckus, redcat volcano and the Armma Granite. I came close to just buying the Armma Granite but really can't tell if there is a throttle control/ training mode. Thanks in advance for opinions...

I would go with Traxxas hands down because of the parts availability over those others ,even if you have to spend a little more ,
plus ,there other brand after market an hop-up parts that is always made for the Traxxas brand!...

I have 2 Traxxas Stampede 4x4 VXL and a Rustler VXL. Pros for Traxxas are probably the best parts support of any brand right now and many parts will have 5 or 6 aftermarket options in addition to what Traxxas sells.
The cons are that Traxxas products sometimes cost more than other brands; yet sometimes offer nothing more for your money.
Arrma has incredible products for the money and hopefully with Horizon Hobbies taking the helm parts and product support will be good.
For the Traxxas models putting aluminum shock caps aND swapping the srock bumpers for ones by RPM will go a long way to make them more reliable. Same goes for swapping the A arms out for RPM as well.
if ypu run them on 2S the Traxxas stuff tends to hold up. Go to 3S then you want to start to look at things like stronger axles aND Esc fans amongst other things.

Batteries are rechargeable. A lot of transmitters have charging port built into them. Some even come with a rechargeable battery(s). Some radios/transmitters are sensitive ~ very sensitive to voltage input and require, or suggest not using batteries other then alkaline ones.
