1.5HP doesn't sound too bad. Are your tires bald?

If you're running on the track, be sure to loosen your slipper clutch, it'll absorb the engine's initial engagement to prevent some wheelspin.

how many turns out from full-compression is your slipper clutch nut?

EDIT: Wait, you say Dirt Hawgs? That's your reason... Dirt Hawgs are NOT track racing tires, you're not going to get any traction with that type of tire on your local track. Usually, you'd need some type of pin tire... You know, the kind that'll last 10 minutes if you drive it on the pavement.

Well, with a properly adjusted and setup slipper and diff, it should last quite some time. Tires are about $18 over here for a pair as well. I know it doesn't sound 'cheap', but in racing, nothing really comes cheap Either bash and have fun with the dirt hawgs on or off the track (no racing), or drop cash on the tires. Just be sure to take 'em off before you go bashing on the pavement again. Don't cheap things out

For pin tires, ask what the local stadium truck racers are using, that's your best bet.

But remember, doing things right is never cheap. And, doing things cheap is never right.

Good luck!

Higher RPM doesn't exactly mean that its better. Look at touring .12 engines, they go up to 47,000 RPM, but how come we don't use them? We don't use them because they don't make as much torque in the low-end as offroad-based .12 engines.

The OS .12TZ is a monster of an engine. I'd recommend that one instead.

Eh the .12 TZ is considerably more then what I what to spend. I don't need MONSTER power just something that will do nicely for club racing.

www.carolinasrc.com
and then click on community. It will have an area that lists all the tracks as well as a forum for each track.

Link to all the tracks in NC and SC. There is one in Mt Airy if I am not mistaken. Also there is my home track in Lexington, NC.

I would definately NOT recommend going that way... You'll end up breaking a LOT of other parts, and/or prematurely damaging your engine from the lack of 'give' from the gears... You're better to strip $15 gears than to break $50+ worth of parts...

Judging from the logo, its a rear-exhaust Dynamite-branded header and pipe. If you get the .12TZ, you WILL need a starter box. No questions asked, no pullstarts. Its a race-bred engine, its not a 'toy' engine like the RTR engine, so you've also got to maintain it better and condition it more frequently than you would an RTR or low-end engine.

REDisFASTER do you still think that would be the case with a O.S. 18 tz motor?

Any of the TZ engines are gonna give you way more power than you bargained for. TRUST ME.

There is a reason for all that aluminum/titanium on my truck.

OS power ROCKS.

The .18 TZ? Yes. TZ's are usually the higher-end engines.

For the best-bang for the buck, side exhaust, pull-start powerhouse, the OS .18CV-RX is MORE than enough. All you would need is an NTC3 clutch nut to put on the threaded shaft after you install the flywheel, and you can install the clutch bell. (NTC3 clutch nut is about $5 from Tower)

The .18CV-RX is $110 @ Tower.

Hey McFly I also have the same shocks as yours but your rear shock bodies seem to have way more thread on them for adjusting. Just wondering if you knew why?

yeah i am hoping for the power and i am going 18 so i feel the tz is a better choice than the cv. i know the bottem end is going to be crazy. i was hoping someone would know a good spur and bell to get to get the wheels down and a little more top end.i do not race i only bash?

Don't know why. They are the shocks that came with the truck.

Well, $110 and $5 can nab you an O.S. .18CV-RX engine an an NTC3 clutch nut (you need it because the 18CV-RX has a short threaded shaft). Its got more than enough power to pounce all over a 3.3 Rustler.

Those prices are from Tower, btw.

You're asking in a GT2 thread, so about 95% of us will recommend the GT2 for you, for obvious reasons... The GT2 can bash, as well as perform like a monster on the track.

Firestorm... Well... I can't really say anything about the Firestorm
