Spektrum AR8000 useless without satellite

give the guys a break- They really don't understand (or want to understand) why 2.4 works and what issues can cause problems with it.
Easier to make comments founded on hearsay.

RE: Spektrum AR8000 useless without satellite
Well, I read the original ad
My personal experience would have told me what was going on, I can see where the purchaser, without extensive Spektrum/JR experience would have felt duped. While he technically provided the information, the way it was presented was a pretty big assumption of knowlege on the sellers part
Had it been me I would have said in clear terms that it didn't include a remote, that it wouldn't bind until the person buying it purchased one, and it needed a DSMX remote to work correctly.
This is a brand new Spektrum AR8000 8-Channel DSMX Receiver.
I got this in the box with my DX7s. I am using the AR7200BX for my T-Rex500EFL.
Good luck, Thanks for looking.

It is certainly true that it is not hard to make comments on hearsay and not getting all the facts together. So often assumption is allowed to over rule before all the evidence is in. I work in Info Technology and I know this all too well

RE: Spektrum AR8000 useless without satellite
I recently sold an AR8000 without sat to a friend. But he knew it wasn't coming with a sat and I sold it at an appropriate price. The fact that you can't buy a AR8000 new without a sat would be a subtle hint that you really do need one.

Another scam on eBay that I just got burned by is that Spektrum AR8000 receivers are useless without their satellite receiver. Found that out after I stupidly bid on one and purchased it, for a higher price than I paid for two other complete ones. Of course his ad did not mention that the receiver would not WORK AT ALL without the satellite receiver.
It appears that people are taking the satellite receiver and are plugging it into their 3-axis gyro (BeastX, etc), and then are dumping the useless AR8000 receiver by itself on eBay to unsuspecting buyers like me.

I own some of the receivers, but I had no reason to attempt to use them without the satellite receiver. Did you think of trying that with yours?
Guess I'm just supposed to know, even though the manual doesn't tell me so. Reminds me of dealing with my wife.

It appears you already own some of the said receivers (based on your quote above). Shouldn't you be at least aware of its capiblities if you already own the same product?

Most modelers buy te cheaet crap Then wonders what happened when it malfunctions. I've seen time and time again ... Guys standing there looking at their Spectrum radio and wonder why the plane just flew into the ground when they had no control of it what's so ever. If DSM2 was any good Spectrum would not of made the DSMX ... DSM2 was the first out and it's old technolegy. Simple as that.

It's about 100:1 in our club in favor of JR and Spektrum. I think there MIGHT be a Futaba user, not sure.
In one club I was in (before moving to IL) there was only one guy flying Futaba, one Hitec, and everybody else JR. In the other club back there it was about 2/3 JR/Spektrum and the rest Futaba except for a handful (2-3) of Hitec.

RE: Spektrum AR8000 useless without satellite
I came across this thread purely by accident, but I had to sign up to say...
I once bought an engine for a Suzuki Hayabusa off ebay, and when it arrived, I discovered that it wouldn't get me to work unless it was in a bike! I was fuming, I'd been scammed! I immediately filed a Paypal claim, but Paypal decided in the scammer's favour!!!
Joking aside... Chris... are you serious? You bought something that you had no clue about and blamed the seller? If you bought a nitro heli that was advertised as having no engine, would you call the seller a scammer and file a Paypal claim when you found out it wouldn't fly?
It's not the seller's fault you didn't know what you were buying... I've never heard anything so ridiculous!
That's all.<br type="_moz"/>

Overstated - not from what I see.
The 100 to one is more like what is evident here .
and the talk about the Spektrum being low end equipment -could not be further off the mark.
Spektrum sells better because the users like it. It is better suited to current trends and interests
Just that simple
