I just finished installing a venom speed meter on my ntc3+. Held it by the handle and opened it up to wot. I let it get up to 50 and I stopped. I heard it isn't good to hold it a wot for long. I will run it tomorrow and see what the difference is. I calibrated it pretty good. I wanna see the speed before I regear and add a new tuned cvec pipe. I think 50 is pretty good considering it's stock. Anyone one else out there with speed #'s?

According to my VSM, i've hit 61mph...but that's actually driving around, lol.
Anyhoo, my installation is on their website. It wasn't that hard. All I had to do was remove one screw holding down the radio tray and replace with with a long one. I screwed in the sensor and used a few shims to keep it the right height for the magnet. Then i just marked where the magnet should go on the driveshaft, pulled the drive shaft out and glued it with CA glue. Then it was just a matter of cleaning up all the wires.

nitroracer: the installation was pretty simple. I also had to get a longer screw for the radio tray and I used some tubing for the necessary height. My receiver is 2 channel so I just plugged it in series with my steering servo. My fail safe is hooked up to my throttle/brake servo.
kwong2001: 61 sounds pretty fast. Is your car stock?

It's pretty accurate. The way you set it up is by figuring out how many inches the car travels in one revolution of the magnet. Then you enter that in the VSM. I have mine set so it will go a slightly shorter distance than what it's supposed to go. If you do that, it will be most accurate.
But you'll probably find out your car doesn't go nearly as fast as you thought it did.
20blks, nope it's not stock...

I believe I set mine at 3.1 or 3.0 can't remember. The real mods that let me get to the speed is just my novarossi ns12s3 engine, dual chamber rear exhaust pipe, foam tires, best top end gears for the ntc3, and a nice protoform race body. I've done almost everything i can to lighten the car, but I don't think it's made THAT much of a difference.

O ok, I guess I can get one for my car then. Anyone ever mount one on a rs4 3? Where do you think I should put the magnet and sensor? Im guessing near the drive shaft?
Thanks

Just put the senso magnet (not premanently) and see if there's room. Then see if there's a way to set up the sensor. That's the tricky part. You gotta find a spot for both of them.

Cossie, can you show, and/or, tell me where you installed your VSM. I have one installed on my CEN CT4S but where I put the sensor, it's not reading right. If you can help, that would be great!!!! Pics would be very helpful.
Thank You!

There's no real issues with it on a ntc3 (i hope that's what you meant). Installations is pretty straight forward, just make sure to get the proper distance between the magnet and the sensor and you'll be fine.

VDuber- Where did you put the magnet, and the sensor arm? Was it dificult to put on? How fast does your car go?
Sorry about all the questions

Yes, sorry about the crappy pics, i mounted the magnet on the drive shaft and then used double sided mounting tape and put the sensor arm on the under side of the receiver box. There is a !QUOT!ridge!QUOT! on the underside that the arm fits nicely into, and the cool part about this location is that when you remove the radio tray, the arm comes with it so there are no problems with disconnecting any wires when you want to remove the tray. As for speed, i got the car to about 38 mph which seem kinda low. For all you RS4 guys, what can I do to get more speed out of my car? I have ported the exhaust header and have gotten a motor savers filter.
-Thanks, and sorry for the delayed reply-

I have the Venom Speed Meter on my Rs4 3 ss as well and with my stock motor it did either 43 or 47. Lean it out just a little but not to much and that will make it go faster and dont put a body on it. I never raced with a body when i was racing for speed but if u do use a body use a stratus the keep down the resistance. Also change your pinion gears to the yellow ones they give you more top end your car will pick up slower and take longer to wind out but it will go faster in the long run.

how many teeth are on the yellow pinion gears?
Also the THS exhaust set says it is for the HPI RTR. I have the RS4 type SS. What tuned pipes are out there for my car that will give me a higher top end speed?
-Thanks-
