hows it going

i Take it that you are building or buying a land yatch, i called suggest some sail winches but I'm not sure how big your sails are
you if you could give us more detail

but i can tell you about winds,
OK to start off ill name the winds, first there is windward, second theres beam reach and than last theres down wind,
theres heps more like broad reach umm close reach, but you don't really need to know them just yet.

windward is when you are sail close to the wind just about into the wind you have to have the sail on tight (about at the corner mabby a little more)
beam reach is when you are sailing across the wind, you want your sailing in all the way.
down wind is when the wind is behind the boat and you want the sails all the way out
ill try and draw a diagram where the no sail zone is might help you

wondering how you set your sails up for the type of wind that your sailing in
well in heavy winds you would you sail on tight, so the wind can escape from the sails which wont make it tip over as much
you also want the boom Vang on tight witch will make the sails falter and dosent make your servo work as hard.
In light winds you won't it to be the opposite, so sails on losely (so wind can't escape out of the sails) and boom Vang on losely.

hope this helps

gpd_05 ,
"Land sailing" isn't exactly like "water sailing". Speed builds much faster on land than on water, and 'recovering' from too much wind is exactly different between the two. (Doesn't sound like it makes much sense, but it does.) Probably the biggest difference between 'wet' and 'dry' sailing is the amount of 'friction' or 'drag' that you deal with. I'd really, really, suggest doing all the searching/reading you can do. There are a number of 'land yacht' sites and one or two of them offer some really good information.

PS - Wish you hadn't brought land sailing up... took a look at what's available and now I'm gonna have to try it...

hey guys
i have a few rc landsailers.
if you want an easy kit and strong sailer get the windjammer.
the main body is 1 1/2 pvc tubing with the radio gear stuffed inside
i have been running mine for 2 yrs now with no problems.
very strong. i run the thing into curbs, off curbs and never no damage.
the thing is starting to look ragy but still "flys"
the only thing i wear out is tires from doing 180`s and 360`s.
not as fast as i like but still all and all fun to run.
