Cessna 210 Centurion Finally Flies
After almost 28 years of being built(not 15 or 16 as said in another thread) this Cessna 210 finally flies. It flew a few months ago but it almost crashed due to all kinds of problems with flaps, ailerons, weight and CofG. After a lot of work it finally hits the sky and does a succesfull flight.
Originally, this was a Pica 206 that was bashed into a Cessna 210. The guys who built this built the cowling around a OS .61 schnuerle and there is barely any acces to the engine, so we stayed with the original over 28 year old engine.
I have had the plane for a about 3 years, buying and installing all the necessary things to get it in the air(which around here is dificult and expensive) and Jose Antonio Gandica, an instructor at our local club spend some time working out bugs and irregularities. He performs the first flight and all of it´s test to assure good control of the aircraft. To say the least we are very happy with the outcome. Even though this is not "extreme scale" as far as the retract mechanism and other details, I believe this is the only Cessna 210 Centurion with glow power flying anywhere. We hope we can slowly make improvements in the overall apperance to make it more scale, and finish small technical problems to improve flight even more.

I hope you enjoy it

Now, I don't feel nearly as bad for working on my Snipe for close to three years! It's great when a model can finally make it into the air!

I'd like to see the setup of the main landing gear retracts.

I've wanted to do that but have no idea where to start. Any pics or drawings or let me know who makes them.

Thanks.

Yes, it has two of them and they work, but it´s just not enough, plus the motor head is under the built up cowling, unlike yours that it´s exposed. Maybe all add another even if it losses scale. By the way the plane is all glassed up, so that would mean cutting up a little wood.

Actually, the Robart wheels generate so much drag under the weight of the plane, that they act like proportional brakes

Yes, it could be. The guys who built it said they where not sure. They have long left the hobby and don´t remember.
