How do YOU take care of you're gearbox
Well since I am the third owner of this king tiger, and even though the previous owner did not use it much, I would like to try to preserve the GB's as long as I can. I have done no other than light cleaning and lubrication again.
I had some tamiya grease and also some expensive stuff I bought when I did 1/10 touring racing on carpet. OKS paste rapid. We used it in the diffs . It sticks to the gears, but it becomes somewhat liquid and really messy if you have to work with the TU's ore whatever.
But what do YOU use to preserve the TU's in you're tank ?

Your gonna hear all kinds of different methods and type of lube. I just spray them out with some WD-40 thenrun in a motor oilbath to
lube up the shafts and bushings/bearings, then apply hob-e-lube gear oil to the slow moving gears and ceramic grease to the faster moving
gears.

I see.Thanks
I also noticed there is some small play in the bb on the output shaft. Someone probaly know the size of it, and if it's an easy switch.

Check out this stuff!
Someone recommended this and they have used it for 6 years on all their rc trannys that have metal gears.
This stuff has worked amazingly well and highly recommend it.

Straight up grease is not a good choice as its very thick and put more stress on trannys.
Oil it self is to wet and slings off and runs down the hull , and needs very frequent re lubing.
This monster lub is the best of both worlds! Once u try u will be hooked!

RE: How do YOU take care of you're gearbox
Apart from proper maintenance I generally try to avoid sudden and abrupt starts and stops and pivot turns. These maneuvers put a lot of strain on the gears. especially if you have a lot of gear reduction. My Panther has an actual 88:1 gear reduction so that is a huge amount of torque changing direction.
