Default It figures...

I bought a HL StuG to add to my existing Tamiya line (Tiger I, M4) so my sons and I could battle together. I ordered the Mako board at the same time and they arrive almost simultaneously. Works as advertised, everything's great, only the HL and M4 share the same frequency, so no battling.

A week later, I have a new HL crystal set, plug it in and we're good to go. I pick up the StuG and hold it in front of the Sherman to range test the battle unit. Works great, kids are ready, I put the StuG down and go to drive it to the door.

Only I'm holding the Futaba Tx, not the HL and did I mention the M4 was on a table?

Broken drive shaft. No battle.

I guess it could have been worse, no other damage anywhere else. I ordered a gearbox, now we wait again. [&o]

Training moment, always have a length of foam or 2x4 under your tanks not on the field. Kind of like never pointing a gun at anything you don't want to destroy!!!

I said to myself when I started it up, put it on the ground, but I didn't. I even said it again as I was carrying it to the bench in pieces.

I did explain to the kids, 'That's why I always tell you not to turn it on while it's on something'. I wanted to make sure I said before they did. I'm also glad I did it and not them.

You could have told your kids, that you did that to show them what happens when they don't listen

Cheers

That stinks Jeff. [:@] I've been there....[&o] only I drove my older HL (First edition non S & S) Tiger I off the trunk of my wifes car and into the side of my truck. I was loading up for a toy show.

I was in the basement workshop at the time checking another tank. I can only theorize that a 1/16 scale Evil Kenevil tank commander hopped into the Tiger and imagined he was at the Snake

River canyon. [X(] It still runs fine but it did damage the truck paint and break the idlers and air filters off the rear of the Tiger.

PS I know it is of absolutly no consolation, but we always use blocks at Danville (they are all over the place). I cringe when I see any tank sitting on table at a battlefield. There is just way too much going on to keep track of everything so it is a great safety measure.
