Upgrading Tamiya leopard two motors
Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade the motor in the Leo gearbox responsible for turning. I've found in standard power the turning speed is too slow for my liking. I know you can switch to high power but the throttle response isn't smooth enough for running in doors. Does any one have recommendations for upgrading the speed 540 motors?

I'd be interested in any info on this as well. Building a 2a6 now. Contacted a builder who uses Leo 2 gearboxes for some of his scratch builds and will let you know if Ilearn
anything.
anything.

As its only for the steering that shouldn't be an issue. Also I can easily double the capacity of the battery I use so that should be ok. Are there any 25T 540s you would recommend?

You know, perhaps the Turnigy chip would have good application here for regulating the steer motor.
Use the power mode with turnigy accel/decel controls. Could be what you need.

Thanks for chiming in Eric. The turnigy chip is a good idea. Would you recomment still using the stock 540 or using the turnigy chip in concert with say a 25T 540?

The choice of motor is still a personal performance preference.
the turnigy will simulate a slow stick movement, so besides some possible low torque issues, either motor should work fine while the higher torque low voltage curve motor should provide more even results.
