Greetings. New 1/16 Leopard 2 A6 owner.
A long time lurker, my first post.
I'm new to the RC world but have always enjoyed seeing RC stuff and my favorites are aircrafts and tanks. I recently got a Tamiya 1/16 Leopard 2 A6 and enjoy it immensely. I had it built by the sellers and the end result is great (although my pocketbook hurts!).
The Leopard 2 A6 is easily my favorite tank because it looks so good with that "arrow" frontal armor and the only tank IMO that looks very sleek; worthy of the name "Leopard". My other favorite tanks are the M1A2 and the French LeClerc tank which itself looks very sleek and modern, but still the Leo wins hands-down for me.
After serching through the site, I couldn't find anybody asking before so I though I'll ask a question (one of many I'm sure). One thing that is missing is the machine gun on top of the loader's hatch, the MG3 I believe. Does anybody sell this gun for the 1/16 Leopard in the U.S.? Mine also doubles as a display model and the machine gun would be very appropriate to complete the look. Any info appreciated.
Also, when I can figure out how to post pics here, I'd like to show what my Leo looks like.

Welcome! Man, when you get into a hobby, you go all out don't you?!! The leo is the most exspensive for a very good reason, I guess.
As far as how to post pictures, there is a link just under the area where you type your messages called, "Click here to upload images and files!". Click it, browse for the picture on your computer and click the upload button. It will give you another message and you click "OK". That's it. [sm=thumbup.gif] You will not see the image until you submit the post, but it will already be there by the time you check it out.
I don't know if it is just my computer, but I have problems uploading more than three pictures at a time.
Good Luck!
Jason

Hey icecreamslick and Tiger. Thanks for the welcome and nice to meet you. Yeah, I'm sure gonna need a lot of help since I'm so new to this hobby.
I tried to post a pic of it but it didn't work. I think I need to have some kind of online photo hosting place or something. If so, then it'll be a while until I get one set up. []
When I got my Leo, I was so happy with it. I specifically requested the brand-new tank look as if it's rolling off the assembly line as I love the brand-new look. The builder did a great job with the paint job I think. All windows were painted blue and that gives it a high tech look I think. The level of detail on the Leo is amazing. I have a Tamiya Masterworks 1/35 Leopard 2 A6 model and thought is good. It's gargantuan brother is WAY better!
When I started the tank for the first time, I thought it was real or something. Totally unexpected! The sounds it makes from the turret moving to the gun firing, etc are awsome! I love it!

Hey kurtmeyer.
Just saw your post. I'm having problems posting pics. I think I need some type of online photo hosting thing. If so, it'll be a while I'm afraid. []

The MG3 mount was included with the Leopard 1A4 kit (only one, not a pair, one for each cupola ring) and sadly, Tamiya is sold out of that sprue.
The upside is a few of the German aftermarket parts replicators have duplicated it. It runs about 20 bucks a pop, plus postage and any customs fees you may get pinched for. You might be able to get either Backyard Armor or Bob Hearne at ETO Armor to order you one.
Now, that said, if you can replicate the mount, you can use one of the MG42's off the Tamiya 1/16 figures, as ther MG3 is a near-identical relative. If you like, I can e-mail you pics of a Tamiya MG42 side by side with one of my Leo 1A4 MG3's. I can offer (free) a spare MG42, but sadly, I have no spare MG3's or mount parts.

Hiya CapnCrunch43, Supreme Reign, tomzag, and WhiteWolf McBride.
Supreme Reign- LOL! Yeah I know what you mean. I don't know how to build models, or at least, not well at all. I love models as well, but if it isn't snap-together and prepainted, I'm lost and no skill! So when I wanted to get this 1/16 Leopard, I sure as well needed someone who knew how to build one too. I think I am lucky to have my Leo built the way I wanted it. But again, now my pocketbook hurts!
tomzag- Thanks for the offer to post the pics for me. I'll try the Photobucket and see how that will work.
White Wolf- Thanks for the offer! I'll send you a PM.

RE: Greetings. New 1/16 Leopard 2 A6 owner.
Well, here is some pics of my 1/16 Tamiya Leo 2 A6. Hope this works.
These pics were not taken by me but rather the builder of my Leo. These pics were taken before he shipped it to me. It is a little dark, but I think you'll get a good idea of how it looks. When I have more time early next week, I plan to take my own pics of the Leo along with it's "smaller" brothers.

Nice looking tank RC fan! I am glad you are enjoying it well. I am just wondering how much it cost you to have them build that behemoth. I almost gave up on mine during the build, with my wife complainig a lot about the time I spent on the tank. I finished it after a MONTH!
The builder did a great paint job. I prefer my tanks weathered though.

Great looking Leo, I know you will enjoy it - best Tamiya RC kit to date!
One question about painting? Mostly seen on factory finished Leos but why are the roadwheel axel hubs painted red/amber?
