Default Smoke on or off?

Hi

I've just got one of these Heng Long Tiger 1 tanks, however the smoke does not work. The manual isn't too clear so I read up that if the smoke fuel is too full to leave it on a while but the on/off switch indicated in the manual for the smoke has instead "A and B" on my tank, so I can't be sure which is on and which is off. I've tried it with both but no luck so far. Any help would be cool.

hi pork chop welcome to the forum
first of switch the tank on fire up the tank using the "key button"
if the smokers working believe me you will hear it
as you've tried both switch positions i would go for a faulty smoker (not uncommon) or the smoker wiring from the main board which is fairly simple as it's just plugged in
hope this helps

easy way to tell. turn tank sound down all the way. "turn on tank" and when the lights stop flashing, you will hear the vrmmmm vrmmm vrmmm vrmmm of the smoker unit going. if it isnt, flip the A B C switch and see if it starts. if not then something aint wired right.

Well, there be no sound with switch in either position so it must be busted.

It doesn't allow it to go as far as the C position.

the "c" position was for the old non S+S versions they just put the smoker on/off switch there instead of the channel change switch A,B and C

Don't worry about it PorkPie.

Tigers only ever smoked when the engine was cold(petrol not diesel)and running the smoker all the time slurps battery power.

I very rarely use mine.

If you're not hearing the smoker motor its more then likely a wiring problem and not a failure of the unit. All the failures occur in the board electronics related to the smoker or the heating element in it. Open it up, fire up your soldering iron and have a look.

AS you can probably tell the smokers are a constant source of trouble. I pull mine out of my tanks when I rebuild them, and they never get put back in. I never liked the sound they made, and you really had to look for the smoke. As someone else mentioned, real tanks didn't smoke that much unless they or the weather was cold.

One of the hazards of being a heng long owner. You just sort of accept you are going to have trouble with it.

They are another source for an electric motor and some moving parts though!!!!!

I was going to replace my smoke unit since it lasted for only two runs but with what I have seen I will not. I want to enjoy this and that thing is just annoying.

from a "smoker" ?? How 'bout "wheeze....hack cough, wheeze, hack cough" My tanks are healthier as mine are all non smokers. Too much hassle and too much battery drain.
