Hi 971wright

The 8,8 cm KwK 43 mounted in Tiger tanks had two values of recoil:
minimum: (Rücklauflänge, kleinste) 380 mm
maximum. (Rücklauflänge, größte) 580 mm
thus the 1:16 values should be between 23.75 mm and 36.25 mm.

Regards
Jose

I don't know why people are so hell-bent on replicating recoil, yet aren't phased in the slightest by how slow the scale recoil works out - In real life, recoil was VERY quick, blink and miss it, whereas WSN/Tamiya's versions are slower-than-heck. (thinking out loud)

Seems to be much more scale (Tamiya) than Heng Longs jerking motion and shooting plastic canon balls.

Speed of recoil and return to battery depends a lot on the gun. On the M-3(A1) 90mm in M-26 & 46 had duel recoil cylinders and return was slower. I could catch the expended shell and toss it out the hatch. [>:] M-47-48s had a concentric hydrospring system and were faster, but performance depended on the gun and if the hydraulic fluid was correct. Many too fast and the return to battery would slam the shell into the radio guard. [X(]76mms in M-41's were also very fast and early 75MM GP guns were slow.
Looking at WW II photos, the 88 wasn't all that fast. I think Tamiya just wants to give something of an authentic look on firing.. for RC models, adds a nice touch. Wish I could eliminate that stupid HL "hick-cough" effect. [:'(]

How can you tell the speed from a photo?

ANyway, there are spring recoil upgrades for tamiya recoil units for those whom wants to have faster recoils but the return is still slow. Too bad they do not have a similar spring recoil for the pershing, Maybe I should go make one one of these days.

I have, but i fail to see how a photo can show the speed of movement, do you mean film?

my tiger re-coil looks pretty good to me as it uses the BB gun mech and nothing as technical as tamiyas
must do a video
the only stumbling bloke i've got with it is the flash as i cant figure for the life of me wether it flashes first then re-coil travel then back home[&:][&:][>:]
