Default Muggy engine temp

Hello. Ive had a muggy for a while now and run it a lot, i ran out of odonell 20% nitro fuel, and still had some youngblood 30% nitro fuel that i use on my helicopter. I decided to run it with the 30% fuel and tunned it for the fuel. After about 5 mnutes of hard running i checked the temperature on the engine on the top with a temp gun looking down into the glow plug and got like 290-300. During the running i had plenty of smoke coming out and the engine didnt seem to be overreving at any time, and fueled it a little and ran it again and it ran fine. Is that too hot for that engine or as long as there is plenty of smoke and no signs of overreving i can keep running it it like that?

Default RE: Muggy engine temp

That's way too hot IMO for a Mach 427. First off, double check the temp with the spit test. Drop a glob of spit down towards the glow plug when up to temp. If it sizzles away instantly, it's too hot.. It should take 4-5 seconds.. If longer or if it just sits there, it's too cold..

I've never run %30, but I think you have to add a shim to the engine - or take one out.. Not sure.. Something like that..
