good engine for team losi 8ight t 2.0 roller
hey guys I am in the process of building a 8ight t 2.0 and I am wondering what would be a good engine in the 200- 350 dollar range, I run on hot rod hobbies, its fairly open and has a lot of jumps, any recommendations?

.21 NO questions asked...Newer breed truggy's are geared for race .21's....Not Fuel Hog Torque monster .28's.

If you are serious about racing definately a good .21. They reach a slightly higher RPM than a .28, and if you get it modded, will run circles around any standard enigine or .28. I used my .28 in my old 2.0 T for bashing, but had a modded v-spec for rracing, huge difference.

I would reccomend A: a Mugen JX.21 or you really should contact a member named Supertib on this forum and get a modded Ofna JPX .21. What he can do with the engines is absolutely amazing, and they are fantastic!

RB Killer 9 (K9) or the OFNA equal.. OFNA JLR .21. Same engine as the K9, but costs less. Only difference is cosmetic and the carb.. Under $200 once they hit the shelves..

I currently run the regular V-Spec in my 8T 2.0, and I love it. It is so easy to tune, and it will hold a tune all day. break in is a pain because it is so tight from the factory, but after that it is smooth sailing. There are a few problems surrounding the conrod, so after break in, you should replace it with the OS Speed rod. This cost $40, but totally worth it. After doing that, the engine is nearly indestructable, and will last for many gallons to come. The regular V-Spec is one of the most powerful .21 engines out there, so it should do well at your track. As for the clutch, I really recommend the Losi steel flywheel, it helps smooth out the engine. The best overall setup is the Dynamite Max-Life clutch shoes with the high endurance 13T cb. I run 4 gold springs, I would also recommend 2 green and 2 gold springs. Below is the exact setup I run:

Make sure you sign up for the tower #1 Super savers club, costs $10 for a year. It will give you free shipping for the Engine and rod together, plus every month they will send you $60 off coupons for purchases over $300. Hope this helps.

well, your truck should come with everything except the steel flywheel, engine, pipe, and rod. I spent $360 on it as follows:
$240 for engine
$40 for conrod
$60 for pipe
$20 for flywheel
$360 total.
$240 for engine
$40 for conrod
$60 for pipe
$20 for flywheel
$360 total.

sorry, didn't put two and two together. Do you think I could just use my old clutch and replace the shoes and springs?
