Servos
So after trying to search through all the threads i havent really found a good answer to this question.
What would a good torque and speed servo be for a weekend racer. I just picked up a used Kyosho Inferno and want to upgrade to get around the track faster.
What are the minimum torque ratings for a good race servo?
as well as the speed?
I found a Futaba BLS452 Digital Brushless Car High-Torque Servo that i really like but just wondering if its worth the $99.99.
here is the link.

thanks for the help guys.

RE: Servos
If you're willing to spend the money, Futaba servos are worth it. Everyone has their brand preferences, I usually get whatever I can get a deal on.
For steering, I look for servos with at least 250oz of torque and at least .15sec transit speed for a truggy.
I'm currently running the Hitec 5955 for steering (333oz) and a Hitec 5998 for throttle (250oz/)

RE: Servos
I would look for at least 250..the Futaba would work but I think it would be stressed. Servos seem to be a personal choice and anyones "top of the line" servos seem to be good, I like JR servos and some like hitec..just buy a good brand, I run the JR 9100 series for throttle & steering..for throttle the faster the better..

RE: Servos
I would recommend savox servos simply for there high performance, they can displace 17 kg and have a reaction time of 0.14 which is immense!

RE: Servos
try the new spectrum 6030, titanium gears, 278 in oz .15 speed, aluminum case, all for 89 big ones, the best truggy stearing servo so far !!! this one actually does what it's spec sheet says, futaba servos don't
i find the jr z650m works very well for throttle but not steering, the z 650m says it is a metal gear servo but the main drive gear is nylon, same with the futaba, spectrum has all titanium gears, very solid, but you should always use a servo saver and get the servo case away from the chassis, no matter how good your servo is it won't like the 300 degree chassis

there actually appears to be a brass gear directly off the motor on the 6030....and $ for $ i would go Hitec without even thinking about it.....278oz Vs 333oz....i know what i'll pick.
Z650's are RTR servo's at best...i would never trust my 1500$+ rig on a cheap 40$ servo
