Merric: We just got some more snow, and it looks like we'll be getting more next week too...Probably where I live, there won't be any flying until May...Mother Nature has really kick us in the caboose this winter...Getting alot of building done, but no flying....Don't like to fly in cold weather.....anyway,will let you know how it flys with the Saito 125 4 stroke, when I take the maided flight...............

I am looking at the angle the retracts are from the leading edge. Does the wheel fit parallel in the wing or is it canted slightly?<div>Ed</div><div>

RE: hanger 9 bf 109 build
Just finishing up the BF-109. Using the power 60 motor with a 6 cell 5000 Mah pack. Weigh's 10lbs,1oz. I installed a 6 volt 2000 Mah receiver pack and 4 ounces of lead on the motor box to get the correct cg. I do not like this covering, the color seems to come off the white backing real easy. The cowl hardly covers the front of the hatch. The cowl mounting holes are drilled to far aft causing the screws to miss the cowl mounting blocks. My spinner and backplate was way out of balance too. I had to heat the canopy up for it to fit onto the hatch. I have quite a large gap at the trailing edge of the wing where it fits in the wing saddle on the fuselage. I opened up the bottom of the cowl and cut out the front of the scoop on the side of the fuselage for extra cooling. I put two holes in the back of the fuselage behind the wing saddle for air to exit. I do not know how to get air over the electric motor due to the huge spinner.I feel this model is way over priced for what you are getting. Hope it flies well or I will be really dissappointed with this Hangar 9 model. The e-flite retracts and struts seem to be the best part of this model.

Merric, did you have any issues with the flap setup? I followed the instuctions exactly and both linkages were way to long. The pre drilled holes for the hinges also did not line up correctly. I had to dosome finageling to get the flaps to line up with the aileron. The inner flap will not line up with the mount no matter what I do.Took a bit of trial and fit but finally got one wing finished. I also had to trim the strut 3/16 in order for the strut to fit in the wheel well.
On a side note, I started on this wing a week ago. When I first removed it from the bag it looked excellent other than some dimples on the wing tip bottom. In the week it has been sitting on my table, it has begun to wrinkle pretty bad.

As for the wrinkle problem, every hanger 9 bird i have owned looked good coming out of the box but as soon as you put it in the sun and it warms up it starts to wrinkle. but i found after it wrinkles up really good you hit it with the heat gun and you will get less wrinkles every time you take it out until it stops wrinkling.

Hi I have also bought one, its on the way, i am also wondering is it possible to fit 20cc gasser, i was thinking evo 20gx or dle20 ,Merric could you please tell me what is the width /height of fuselage in beginning and ending of cowl area and how long is the cowl, i would be gratefull. My other engine option is Asp ar120 4t, but i here in Croatia it is very difficult to buy glow fuel, actually impossible. Merric what is the consumption of ASP 120 4t, as i saw that you mentioned that you have one

Hi Merric thanks for your answer, i would really appreaciate if you could measure it, like i said i would prefer 20 cc gasser, as it very simple to get fuel, although 4t glow has much more realistic sound compared to a chainsaw sound of gasser engine, downside to gasser engine is i would probably need to cut large piece of cowl, which i do not prefer, i am really in dillema , btw which servos did you install in it??

RE: hanger 9 bf 109 build
I maidend mine last week and she flew great with the CG at 3 1/4, I powered it with an RCV 90 sp I also used a set of 80 degree robart mains and struts I had to extend the struts a little.
The only flaw is the ground handling but you just keep her straight and she will be fine heres the pics , I also went over the entire plane with light sandpaper to give it that worn look
sorry but the pics came out side ways lol

Flew the first four flights this morning with the 109. All I can say is RIGHT rudder and more RIGHT rudder on takeoff. Even with advancing the throttle slowly the plane will go left in a heartbeat. The plane flies really well once airborne. The landings are good but unable to keep the wing tips from hitting the pavement on the rollout. Will remove about 4 ounces of nose weight. Was quite nose heavy during the flight's. After the four seven minute flight's, I had about 30% capacity remaining on each of the 5000 Mah battery pack. Had no cooling issues with the plane so I guess the mods I made worked. Looks good in the sky when you can see it, so try to keep it in close range.

I have installed the dubro wing tips skids knowing that this would be the norm for this plane. They really did a good job keeping the wing tips from any damage.

Just received mine. I'm very, very impressed with the quality. This is the first H9 arf I've owned in a long time and I have to say they've come a long way since my last one (33% cap). The covering jobis the best one I've ever seen, hate to say it but its even a notch above the TF birds. I dry fitted everything together and do not seem to have any fit issues at all. Mines getting a XYZ 20cc with a Jtec compact Pitts muffler. Have the same combo in a TF p-51 and it fits very well. The engine area is almost the same.

Hi guys, i was wondering which servos are you using for this bird, i was thinking installing hitec hs-5645mg on rudder, elevator and ailerons as i have few of them laying at my home waiting to be installed, for flaps i was thinking using spektrum a 5040mg instead of hangar9 proposed a5030 servos, what do you guys thinking about these servos???
