Do you ride your warbird bare-back

Seriously, when you mount your wing to the wing saddle do run the joint bare or do you use something to dampen the vibration and wear.
Thanks Matt
I'm asking this question because my new Top flite P51 was built with a tight joint and I am currently running it bare. After only a couple of flights I'm seeing significant wear on the wing. I've tried a couple of small pieces or foam tape on the saddle near the front of the wing (this is were the screws are located) and the foam just disintegrated in 2 flights.[:@]

The only thing I would guess is happening with your TF is you must have some play between the wing and the wing saddle. My TF p-51 has been flying since 1997 and has several hundred flights on it, never had a problem with the wing saddle, I wouldn't care anyway because you can't see the wing saddle when the wing is on! In the first picture you can see some rubbing marks on the Monokote, but the plane is 8 years old.![Smile](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

lessee,
I run most joints with no tape and it works out fine.
On my new Corsair I had to use tape to seal the area to make up for my lack of building prowess when it come to wing saddle shaping.

I personally like the silicone method myself.
Cover the wing with monokote backing, lightly sand the saddle and lay a bead of silicone down. Mount the wing, and let it cure over night. Pull the wing off after removing the tape that held the monokote backing. Peel the backing off and trim the excess silicone with a single edge razor blade.
