Hello, in your oppinion, what is the best paint to paint a warbird with?

John...I paint all of my warbirds with exterior latex. I know of many top rate builders who also use latex. There are many advantages to latex as well. For some more info, check out www.rcwarbirds.com and go to the "Finish Forum", I have cover this topic quite a bit there.

Latex gets my vote also! You can get any color you want mixed at the hardware store if you bring in a quarter sized example. Very easy to work with and NO obnoxious odor.

Dose Latex need to be fuel proofed and if so how do you do it ?

If you are using glow fuel then yes, it needs to be covered with a clear. If you are use a gas engine then you should not have do anything to it.

I do clear coat even with gas. If you get gas on the paint it will soften the paint. If you try to clean the area before it is totally dry it can take the paint off. Plus I use all flat paints. Easier to work with and you can get a smoother surface......
