Default FW 190-D wheels

Hi Guys I am building a PICA Fw190-D and try to find a decent set of scale wheels for it. The best I could come up is Du-Bro 3-3/4 scale wheels which is nice but a little bit too big. The planes calls for 3-1/2 IN wheels and these are the smallest Du-Bro makes in scale wheels. any ideas thanks

Default Wheels

I built a Holman 1/5 scale D-9 a few years back. I used Williams Bros. smooth contour wheels. With a little work, they can be made to look very "scale".

Foxx, I used the He163 wheels from glennis. They are close to scale and have the correct german tread. They are pricey but look great on the D-9. They are the correct size too.

Default FW 190-D wheels

Thanks for the links, I think they don't have anything in 3-1/2 IN range. and good lord they cost more than the airplane itself !!!

foxx,

The Williams brothers smooth contour wheels might be your best choice. Like jpflyer said, with a little work they can be made to look scale. A set of narrow foam wheels (the narrow wheels are marketed towards electric models, I think) may work ok if you are trying to keep the weight down.

Default FW 190 D9

Here is a picture of a FW 190 D9 wheel. I live a few miles from the USAF museum. I am building an FW 190 D9 and have taken pictures of almost every part of the aircraft.
