Default Cad Viewer ???

Is there a free program somewhere that will just let me view the dxf files? You know, where you double click on the file and it opens it. Like when you down load a jpeg and double click and it opens in a program like windows media player for avi`s

You can Download VoloView Express for free from Autodesk.com

You might also want to do a search for TurboCAD from IMSI. You can download a free student version of their CAD software, and it will let you do more of the CAD Features including print the CAD page over a set of 8.5 X 11 sheets of paper.

I have also used Volo in the past. Its ok nothing to brag about but free is always good. If all you want is to look at a drawing Volo will work. I use a program called Mryiad to view most of my drawings for work (machine shop) and am quite satisfied with it. I think there is also another free one on the web called rino, not sure how well it does, I have only heard of it from a friend who works in solid extensively.

I use a free program from jetcam called DXF VIEWER. I have a lot of DXF files in the same folder. It is so fast. Just use the down arrow to scroll through them.

Another option, not free but VERY cheap, is to look through the bargain bin at your local computer store. Pick up some NoName CAD program for $9.99 or so. Just about all of them at least import DXF files. You don't even have to learn the rest of the program if you don't want to.

You might also want to go do www.downloads.com and search for DXF viewers or other low end (free or cheap) CAD programs that will import DXF files.

Good luck.
