Default Hiding Linkages

Hey All! Looking for a way to hide the control linkages for my 1/5 scale Ryan Sta Special. I don't want any of the linkages to show at all, in any of the control surfaces. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm working very, very hard in as much detail as posible and I'm finding this to be the most frustrating part of the build.

Thanks,

Richard

Pull-Pull cables on a bellcrank is one way. I just did a stabilizer that has dihedral
and rigged the elevators like strip ailerons, using a single pushrod that forks into 2 ball-links.
(Under the stab and inside the fuselage)
Make sure whatever you do that it is dead reliable, or that you can get at it through
a hatch in case you need to make adjustments, repairs, whatever.
Also make sure there is a support or bearing of some sort near the lever or bellcrank to
work against the pull of the cables or pushrod.
And all your throw and centering adjustments will probably have
to be made at the servo unless you have access and engineer in some adjuatability.

I found these at Hobby Lobby. Follow this link:

and look for product CH901 'Hidden Control Horns'. Good luck and let us know how you go.

Fritzke : Thanks for the info. How did you split the pushrod? I'm assuming that one pushrod is split into two seperate ones going to two seperate ball links?

Regards,

Richard

Fritzke: How did you do the ailerons? Can't be the same method, not enough room vertically.

Richard

Yojoelay: Ever use that type? How much load will they take?

Richard

I had some of those that Yojoelay showed in a Top Flite Zero years back. They seemed to work fine. I'm contemplating on them for my Ziroli p40 project this winter, but not 100% sure yet. Done right, there is little to no slop in the linkage.

I built a Ryan SC-W and the elevator had a connecting rod with a control horn hidden inside the fuselage. The rudder will be the hard part but if I'm not mistaken the full scale STA used a exposed pull-pull system like the full scale Ryan SC.

No, I haven't used those hidden linkages noted above. Saw them when I was looking for something else and they looked interesting, have kept them in mind since.

Good luck,

Joel
