Default 8 spots

I need someones help to understand what the neck these 8 spots are insde of my Zenoah 230 engine are. 45 years of working on auto engines and never seen this. Must have something to do with the way the air and gas ignite. [8D]

I believe it is part of the chrome coating process. It is present on unfired motors

I work with 2/4 stroke motorcycle engines i have never seen these kind of marks either,I think its down to the fact that the heads i work with are not chrome plated ?

You're all wrong the that engine is faking chicken pox because it doesn't want to go into a proboat.

Well everyone was almost correct on the 8 little spots but I have the truth behind the whole thing. That is the marks where the 8 little gerbils keep hitting their helmets. 1 gerbil is equal to 1/4 horsepower. The newer 4 ports are using upgraded gerbils that are making 1/3 horsepower each. The whole trick is just keeping the gerbils well lubricated and inside. They are very small and shy so when you open up the jug, all you can see is the marks left by them. They usually run and hide on the underside of the piston after it is open up. It is a good time to check on their helmets though.
