If I were you I'd be asking what mods NOT to do!!! I seen some builders do more harm than good and some just advertise they can build.

Take it from someone who bought a 1300 dollar engine and managed to max it out at 35 mph with a crappy set up --- there are other questions you need to be asking

best thing to do is get it set up right as it is ,thats balance the prop and balance the boat right then run it see how she runs experiment with props and prop angle etc.then think about modding it ie bigger carb tuned pipes ,porting etc etc.

Fastguy,
If you want to venture out and do some mods yourself, I would first suggest getting yourself a degree wheel and learning how to use it. Then the simplest and easiest bang for your buck would be to raise the exhaust timing. 182 would be max in my opinion and I would also set the piston to head clearence to around .020. That will give you some performance gains that will help you out.
Here is what is done to one of my engines just to give you an idea.
New engine disassembled and all parts checked and cleaned
Crank checked to make sure it is true
Machine work done to piston and cylinder
Piston modified and lightened
Transfer ports modified
Exhaust Port modified
Intake Port modified
Hand port work to piston and cylinder
Isolator block ported to match intake port
Port timings set for intake and exhaust
Low drag seals installed
All bolts replaced with high grade Stainless steel bolts
Base gasket replaced with .005 copper base gasket
wt257 Carburetor bored and modified
Professionally assembled and inspected for quality

and if that doesnt make him think again nothing will lol,my advice would be get the boat set up right and leave the mods for now till you get the boat and engine running to optimum speed ,then modify the engine or better still get someone who knows how to do it for you.or buy one of these lol [link]http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/QuickDraw-QD25-25cc-Petrol-Gas-motor-model-powerboat_W0QQitemZ330074554384QQihZ014QQcategoryZ 140972QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem[/link]
