Place your red (+) test lead to the red wire on the source coil (red) with the coil wire off, place ground to a well grounded location and give the motor a big pull with no spark plug, should see spikes (dc voltage) of 12+ volts, if your DMM isn't fast enough then put a small 12v light bulb to the coil and then to ground, when you pull it there should be a flicker of light, if all is well there move onto the ignition coil. All else fails shoot me a pm ill get you sorted out.

The brass tabs on both coils need a good ground connection to case, make sure there is no corrosion between the brass tabs and the case, if using a coil relocator make sure the tab is contacting bare aluminum as anodize is nonconductive.

Doesn't sound typical for a source coil to quit by getting wet.
A dunking usually creates other damage. Bent/twisted cranks are common from dunking, check the air gap between coil and flywheel.

well. i put the ohm meter back on it and just watched it. it kept goin from open to the correct ohms!!! pulled the plug boot off and the piece of metal that is stuck in the wire wasnt making good contact so i pulled it out and stuck it in again. spark problem solved. can anybody give me some good carb settings for this motor. its a 260 in a shockwave 55 all stock
