I`ve got a kit and hdwe. on the way, my question is do I need a clutch or not?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of this issue?
I haven`t ordered the motor yet , so I`ve got time to make up my mind.

It is an option that starting out with boats is worthy of consideration. For most sport boats it is a good option to have. Makes for safer launches and retrievals (especially if you have limited hands / helpers). As far as performance losses - they are neglegable for a sport boater - if you were racing then indeed it may be the difference (or something to blame for not winning

Ive got clutches in both my gas boats and i have to say after running nitro boats with no clutch i love having a clutch in my boats. It makes launching so easy and also tuning much easier too,i just bring the boat in let it idle tweak the carb and back out again,SIMPLE.I also have to say if you have kids round you when you run allways have a clutch its much safer in my opinion ,its also much easier especially when launching the boat alone too as Matt says.
