Ok, i am in over my head here.
I have a strimmer engine (like homelite) and i have ordered this stinger: [link=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300238939174&ssPa geName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=020#ebayphotohosting]STINGER[/link].
I was looking around and it seems a ferrule is needed for a square flex drive but the stinger does not leave room for it.
Can i make this set up work?
Or have i ordered the wrong stinger?
Thanks
Alex

i am 99% sure that that drive is for a welded cable which only come round so your only choice is to get a strut and you will probably have to make your own standoff to get the prop further out from the transom to fit a ferrule there

I did notice it looks to be a little bigger at the back but its had to be 100% from the picture.

Alex
I have the same stinger on my easy vee. What i had to do was cut about a 1/2 inch off the end of the ferrule where you insert the cable for soldering and then drill it deeper until it meets up with the treaded portion of the ferrule. This will leave you with about 3/8 inch play as the ferrule slips into the stinger quite aways.
Hope this helps you out.

Where are you going to run? Those roller bearings are going to need to be flushed and oiled after every days running. You should use harden shafts as well, regular SS will get chewed up fast in roller bearings.

Thanks for the help
I am going to be running in the sea, so have to clean it all out after every run anyway.
I have spoke to someone on ebay and i going to get the stuff from them, including a hardened shaft.

I wouldn't run roller bearings in salt water, the will be no good in a very short time. I would get a strut with lead-teflon (or brass oilite) bushes for salt water, they will last longer and you can use SS prop shafts with them.

i think i am going to give it a go and if it packs up quickly i will either put bushings in it (homemade) or buy a strut.
