Hi all
I have a Warehousehobbies Man-O-War (Apache) with a stock zenoah engine.
Just finished break-in with 2 tanks fuel.....
My problem is when I press the throttle a bit more than a third, the engine sounds like Woooo-woooo-woooo...... and feels like its going to die...... It sounds bit like its too rich when I go above 1/3 throttle. I tried tuning my low speed needle and high speed needle in every direction to no avail......
What could be the problem here? Dirty carburetor, damaged spark plug or something else??? Any comments/help would be greatly appreciated as I am at a complete loss here......
Thanks
JC

Sounds like it is lean on the high needle, though if you tried to increase fuel flow to no affect, you might have something else restricting fuel flow.
Try: Inlinf fuel filter clear.
In tank fuel filter clear
In carb filter clear
Tank vent clear
After that, check the carb diaphragms are good.

Second the fuel flow problem. I had the same thing happen last year. Turned out to be a spider in my in-line filter. Glad I installed that!

Look at your spark plug. If its black or real dark than its too rich. If its real light brown or gray its too lean. You said that you were turning the low & high settings in all directions, did you go back & reset the needles to the orig. factory carb settings. If not go about 2 turns out on the low & about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 turns out on the high. Check everything the other guys are saying too. Last but not least is the throttle going to wide open on the carb??

Hi guys
Thanks a lot for all your suggestions. This has lifted my mood![Big Grin](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I'll check everything starting with the fuel flow.....
Gas boats are great fun, huge and needs some tuning compared to the many electrics boats I have.....
Cheers

Try making sure you are at the factory suggested base settings. See attached image. Your engine should be the PUM model.
Any chance you got water in the fuel?

Check if there is gas coming out through the needle's tread. I had the same problem my engine was dying at full throller and i notice that there was gasoline coming out. I put a bit of lock tie and i set them up the best i could and problem solved. Next fix for that is to buy a new carburator.

One more thing. Check your cooling to make sure that you are getting a steady flow of cooling. Sometimes this gets over looked thinking that it is a lean or rich issue. If you are overheating, it will Wooo Wooo and you will burn out the piston and ring and possibly bend the crank if you keep on going. Ask me how I know?
