Default lightweight boat stand

Hi
this is done by one of the local young guys .... nice lightweight stand You only need larger tubing if you want a bit more heavy duty. Ithink the video is cool (good music anyways)

$15[sm=confused.gif] some people are lucky, on this side of the pond it would be more like $50+.
those T peices are like $4-5 alone.

Those elbows and T's are around 25 cents here!
I use a PVC tubing cutter that does fast work of cutting the tubing to length.
For boats up to .21's I use 1/2" and 3/4" for anything larger.

Gonna get some serious sag with that diameter pipe. I make my stands super low to the ground so I can start the boat without wobbling everywhere.

I make mine so that the rudder has an inch or so of clearance, not much more than that. I have to squeeze a lot of boats and support gear into my SUV intil I get myself an enclosed trailer so I don't go into overkill when building a stand. I try not to make the bottom much wider than the boat for the same reason plus I like to know that the boats won't flop over when I'm shooting curves on the way to the watering hole.

it's hard to tell from the vid if that's the Old Style Pipe Insulation or the newer stuff that looks like pool noodles, the Old stuff isn't very good for a boat stand especially if your running nitro, it will get soft and gooey and stick to the bottom of your boat. Pool Noodles work Much Better.

Pipe insulation .... if we need more strength we slid wood doweling inside tubes ..... too many guys build some monster stand for a 12# boat

We have 13 boats so kinda hard to fit 4 or 5 for a pond trip if u build huge stands ..... This Video is by a young kid who did it for one of his buddies not acomprehensive complete video on stand building

Cheers

Slide wood doweling in main tubes and no problem yet and we have 13 boats ........ these stands are low 8" (minus hull height +rudder depth = around 2" off ground )

No rudder shown on boat in video

Cheers

Here's one I made for traveling with the little boats. Each level comes off and you can use it as your starting stand or adjust it to the number of boats your carrying.

On our way to go racin.

Yea the only prob with that stand was the cheap pipe insulation I used, I learned from experiance Not to do that again, it leaves a mess on the bottom of the boats.
