Default Is it really this hard to do?

I'm having a real hard time trying to slip a dry tuned pipe over the header. The pipe can slip on just fine without the two viton seals, but obviously that's not an option. What do I do? I know there should be a good seal but holy cow I can't get the header in. Is this a common problem? Please anyone, let me know what works.

Well I got it on after some twisting, pushing, and some cursing. I fear though I might be replacing the seals rather sooner than later. I'll definitely try the soap next time.

I suspect you are trying to put a 22mm exhaust (Europe/China-pipe) over a USA 7/8" header ?

That won't fit .. as 7/8" is 22,225mm.

Buying a 22mm header will make this combo a slip-fit.

Seriously rounding and beveling the end of the header helps get it on and insure you don't cut the o-rings. Try a softer o-ring like a orange silicone that could help. Once you get it on, tight is always better for o-ring life. Soap or cable grease helps also.

I hope it's a SS header? If your using an aluminium header you need softer O-rings, the Viton ones will dent the header and leak.

Yes the header is Stainless Steel. I still think I'm gonna have to replace the seals soon. Next time I'll definitely lubricate them first. [:@]
