Servo Mounting
Can any method be used to mount servos inside radio boxes and still be legal to race? What would be wrong with using Goop or any other non-standard mounting method other than screws?
A smaller radio box has advantages and making one without servo rails and tabs would help, especially running three channels plus whatever like a power or temp meter.

RE: Servo Mounting
I've never seen a boat set up to race that didn't have at least one rail to screw into. You could probably get away with servo tape or shoe goo, BUT NOT SILICONE!!!!!!!!!!!! Silicone is too flexible to hold for more than a few laps at high speeds.

RE: Servo Mounting
There is nothing in any of the rulebooks that I know of that says how servos should be mounted. Don't use Shoe-Goo or any other type of silicone adhesive to hold them into place as it won't hold them in for long, especially with high torque steering servos. That's one place where you don't want them to come loose! Take it from me, I've tried the stuff and it doesn't work!
I have made my own servo mounts using carbon fiber angle that have worked well so far. the plastic servo trays that the plane guys use will work or the aluminum mounts that Aeromarine sells don't use up any more room than what the servos do and can be mounted ot the side or floor of the radio box.
