What prop to get?
Just wondering what prop to buy
It's a Kyosho Bluestreak 800
930mm hull, V type
Motor is a .16, and I added a tune header and pipe (actually for a car but I retrofitted it)
Gonna run about 30% nitro
I got a smaller prop than standard, and it revved too much without speed
And got a much bigger one than standard and it revved too little with no speed
I think the big one was 50mm and the standard is 40mm but not sure of pitch
Also, what's the difference between twin and triple blade props?

RE: What prop to get?
I did get a 38mm I think and it just revved heaps but didn't go anywhere
What makes more of an effect? Pitch or diameter?
Also 2 and 3 blade props? What's the difference?

RE: What prop to get?
Cavitating/cavitation is when you get air around the prop which won't let it grab water. The engine will rev but not go anywhere.
I've gotten to where I toss all of my boats and those of others. It's more a force of habit now, especially if you've been hosed down a few times by a large mono that the driver is a little trigger happy with.

RE: What prop to get?
I think it does that a bit but not sure
I just want a prop so that the engine doesn't struggle to rev, but gives me a speed boost
So, what would I do, get more pitch, or get larger diameter?
I am not that interested in acceleration, more the speeds it reaches

RE: What prop to get?
Hi Spetz, we all are! But, the prop has to accelerate the boat up to get the best top speed, it is always a compromise and lots of things affect each other.
One prop that may work well on my boat might not run on yours because of different settings, prop depth, strut angle, hull shape all affect how the prop works.
So, the best way is to get some different props and to test and adjust to see what works best for you.
It really is a lot of trial and error.

Trial and error is what this hobby is all about to get fast. Fear not, you'll get used to it!!
Happy Christmas, maybe Santa will bring you a sack full of props for Christmas!!
