Default CMB 80 New Carb Question

Hi All,

Just a quick question. I have been playing around with my petrol boats but have decided to get back into Nitro. I have a 42" Seaducer with the CMB 80. It has been running well but I decided to switch to a CMB carb that had a low speed needle to help make it a bit easier to run. I have fitted the new CMB 12mm carb and have started her up and she will idle well now, however when I take the glow plug igniter off, it will slowly die each time. I have checked the plug and swapped this just to make sure it wasn't a faultly one. Is the low speed needle too rich?

Thanks for any info and hope you all have a happy and safe Christmas/New Years.

Cheers

Simon

Hey Simon,
it sounds like the low speed needle could be a bit rich, also the carby might not be open enough to let it idle the gap should be about 1-1.5mm from fully closed if you know what i mean also the engine might not be warm engouh so it will also stall, hopefully i maybe able to help you in some sort of way lol.

Regards
Bradley

What happens to the engine when you "blip" the throttle out of the water? Does it "bog down" or "pick up" straight away?

When I blip the throttle with the igniter in no issues it will clear out the engine and rev fine. without the igniter...it will die straight away. I have tried to warm the engine up a bit before taking the igniter out but didn't seem to help. I thought about the carb not being open enough so did that as well. It seemed to take quite a bit of time to heat the engine as well. Is it possible the Nitro content is just too low for the plug maybe? Normally run 40% but only have 25% at the moment with a Mcoy 9?

Thanks Again.

Dying like that is usually a lean condition so fatten up the needles.

Agree with Ron. The symptoms described point that way.

Happy Christmas.
