How long is the boat? It looks like a Sport 20.

Do you know what brand of hull it is?? If those are 12 inch tiles on the floor, it looks like it is a little over 2 feet long...and I think the PT 20 is only about 30 inches long. (not saying it is a PT20, just saying that it looks about the same length as a boat made for a .21 engine). I would expect a sport 40 to be about 3 feet (36 inches) long.

Anyhow, engines...not a lot of choices over .21 size engines. That is...choices in manufacturers.

OS has a .45/.46 engine which can be picked up for a couple hundred dollars ($250sh I think). It is rear exhaust, so the header would need to wrap around hte side of the engine.

A more powerful choice would be CMB. A CMB .45 engine would cost about $500-$550. It has a front exhaust so you can shoot straight out the back with the exhaust.

This is a Shadow Sport 40 made by Aeromarine.

Hull is 37 inches long and 13 1/2 inches Beam (wide).

Made for .45 Nitro, get yourself a decent 45 engine.

OPS is a very good engine, makes lots of power, carbs are a little finniky, and usualy come with a tuned pipe, I'm sure you will be happy with the speed of your hydro with that engine. ps at 255.00 for engine and pipe is a screamin deal.

I thought OPS was a sport engine. How does it compare to a CMB?? I might be missing the bus...

Thanks,
Sean

There are some very happy owners of the OPS .45 but like was mentioned above, the carb isn't that hot. The problem there is that it's got a big bore in a small barrel so the carb doesn't fully close.
One little hint for later on. Move the radio box as far forward as possible.

Back in the day there was no macs or cmb you had picco rossi os ops k&b, the older engines won't spin up like the cmb and mac but are a little more torqey [like that word?] so with a little more pitch and longer pipe length it's a close match up, I think a os aero carb off of a 60 size worked on my ops 45 in a prather 40 actualy had a hard time keeping that boat on the water at wot.

It looks like the new ops 45 has a little different carb than what came on mine and that drum valve is better too.

My good friend Terry over here acquired a Whiplash about a month ago with an OPS 45.

We were not certain on what kind of performance we would get from that engine.......after the first couple of test run, we were impressed.

If they were/are a decent motor, I wonder why they stopped importing them into the US...??

Pretty sure they were the US importer that quit importing them....

I thought they only carried gas engines now. I think any OPS engine parts they have are aftermarket parts. Do you have a link to the OPS engines on their website??

They kinda got a strange site, I just type ops engines and aeromarine pops up and the complete engines are listed with the parts.

I have a ton of OPS 45 ENGINES and PARTS, OPS was not making any money in the US. OPS is in the UK, Here is the web site-wwwmantuamodel.co.uk-.Here is a good web site for OPS ENGINES-www.hobbydepot.com.au-. You can buy New or buy a good used OPS 45. I have been in the hobby for over 35 years working on nitro engines. If you need a good used ops 45 engine I can help you, all have great compression. A disc rotor is $125.00 and a drum rotor is $150.00. With out pipe, you can use a mac pipe. They work Great! I bench test all of my engines before I sell them. All engines have been looked over, they all come with a RPM CONNECTING ROD, you will not break this rodHAPPY BOATINGFB
