Default Super Tiger .18

Does anyone know torque specs for this engine? I want to disassemble the engine before running and perform an inspection. I really only want to take the head off and look inside for debris. Do the head srews need to be at spec when tightening?</p>

I don't have a line on the torque settings for the head but you might be able to get a good look inside the cylinder if you take the exhaust header off and peek in.

Not many use a torque wench for $150.00& up. The cost for a good Screw driver style .Harbor Freight may have a low price low quality one.

You could look in a machinist' hand book and find some torque specs. For small engines such as these, I just use a handle-type driver and snug them up. It doesn't take much, and is really easy to over-tighten small screws. I usually just keep a light grip on the driver and when the bolt stops turning, I stop. Sounds simple, but takes some feel.

If there`s any debris it is very seldom on top of the piston, I`d also remove the back plate and take a look where debris usually are, if any at all. You don`t need a torque wrench for this, just common sense and experience from mechanic work. Tighten up in a crossing pattern, little by little on each screw until snug

Grim,

10" lbs? Less than 1' lb? Holly crap. Now I gotta keep a $160 torque wrench laying around my tool kit! My wife will kill me!
Do you torque by feel or do you use a riduciously expensive torque wrench laying around? lol Why such light torque? My buddy was experiencing trouble with his MVD. He pulled it in to check it out and forund that the head was loose. All but one bolt had come completely loose and the one that didn't come loose was waaaay more than 10" lbs tight. You have any recommendations on how to keep this from happening? Thanks Grim.

no torque wrench needed, go by feel their small bolts so no need to horse down on them, kind of like putting a water pump on a 350 chevy you just know when its good. Might add even a brand new engine should be taken apart and inspected, cleaned up, oiled, and put back together, your buddy just found out why you do this
