Battery Mounting
I have an early version 450X. The battery mounting area is only about 1.5" deep, stopping at the motor. It is hard to get a good purchase on the battery with a velcro strap. Is there a battery tray extender or some way to secure the battery that I am missing out on?

Yes there are. I have a Carbon fiber one on mine. Here is an example of an aluminum one:

I just glued 3 popcicle sticks together then to the bottom of the tray. Had to trim them to fit in the body but, cheap and light.
