I used the Finless videos and my 500 went together without a hitch. I felt it was easier to build than my 450 but that is most likely due to the 450 being the first heli I ever built. I have about 50 flights on it and has quickly become my favorite thing to fly. My poor 450 does not get much flight time at all anymore.

I set mine up like this T-Rex 500 CF, 3 Hitech HS-5245mg, Gy401 gyro, S9257 on the tail, AR6200 and using Flight Power 6S Evo25 2500 packs. I had what I belive to be a ESC (elctro static discharge) on my 4th flight and it looked out my receiver. The heli crashed from about 30' up and I ended up with a $100+ repair bill.[:@] After this happened I installed a Dimension Engineering SportBEC and grounded both the motor mounting plate and my tail boom to the negative on my ESC. I also lube my belt with some silicone about every 5 flights or so. I now have about 45 fights on it since then without a problem. I have also upgraded to the metal tail case, metal mixing arms, metal tail pitch slider, and metal main bearing blocks. These mods don't make it fly any better but they sure do look good!

I went witht the metal geared Hitec servos on the swash for the strength. However, while the gears do not strip in a crash the actual cases break inside and must be replaced. If I was building a new one right now I would just go with 3 Futaba S9650s on the swash and plan on replacing gears when you crash and they strip.

I hope this helps!

Have fun you will love the 500!!!

Nice Heli, BoysToys! I am jealous! Can you post a picture of the 500 next to your 450? If you don't mind me asking, how much did that pack run you?

Next year, I've got my eyes set on a TREx 600NPS! [)]

Thanks for the compliment! The 6S Flight Power packs cost me $185 each shipped from RCHover.com. I only have two of them right now. If I want to fly more I wire up a couple of my Flight Power 3S Evo 25 2170 packs from my 450. The next packs I buy will most likely be Flight Power 6S Evolite 2500s. They run right around $150 each. I was looking at building a 600 in the near future but the overall cost is keeping me from doing it. I don't run any nitro in my helis, planes, or trucks. I am strickly and electric guy! My up in the air cost of the 500 is right around $1200 not counting my DX7. Just the batteries for the 600 are around $300 each. So for right now the 500 is as big a heli as I am going to build. I really like the way it flies and it handles the wind great compared to my 450. My 450 is now my "beater bird" that I practice new stuff on before attempting it with the 500.

Here are the pics you requested. I also attached one of all my flying toys! I am getting ready to go fly right now and had them out so I went ahead and snapped a quick pic.

Hey BoysToys, I watched my lhs owner fly a Parzone T-28 in the parking lot
of his store. It must have gotten up in about 10 ft. That plane was amost
silent w/that brushless motor. He was flying that thing w/old trees & apt.
buildings on one side of the street & housing on the other side. Did some
nice maneuvers too. Nice flyer & good price.

I'm the process build w/my Trex 500. My 1st build. I've watched some of the
MN heli club fly their 500. Most of those guys own the 600, either gas or elec.
Some own both. But they all say it has the stability of the 600 & they love the
500. It is fast becoming a huge seller for Align no doubt.
The 9650's are going on mine, also got a DX7 w/the Spektrum rx rebates
going on. It's gonna be fun!!

What battery charger do you prefer? Favorite battery? I just use the little Align for the 450 battery's now. My 500 is on the way as are the servos, and gyro. I have not ordred any battery yet, and I want to order a better charger that will use 110, and charge from a 12v if I can. If not I can run it off a converter. I was disapointed to hear that the stock tail needed replacement. The reason I ordered a 500 was because my 450 v2 needed no mods to fly right.

The Thunder Power 2600mah (6 cell pack) extreme V2 is the ultimate
way to go. @ $180 a pop though. That's what I went with & many of
the MN heli club guys.

The charger I bought is the Thunder Power TP-610C @ $130. It is a
balanceer/charger & discharger.
