Default Want a Phoenix flight simulator

Would like to buy a Phoenix sim. I'm not that computer savy. I have about a 3 year
old Dell Dimension 3000 desk top computer. I need to know if this will handle the
Phoenix. From what I've read in RC Heli mag on the review. The Phoexnix can get
by with pretty much a minimal amount of computer. I know I don't have a game
card in my Dell. Can you tell me if I can run the Phoenix the way my Dell is? Or
do I need to upgrade some things on my computer? I just picked up a DX7 tx.
Appreciate the help. Thanks ahead!

I would contact Phoenix support directly with your questions, they will be able to best tell you if your PC can run their sim.

Personally I would think it could, as long as you have at least a 64mb video card, a 2ghz processor, and at least 512mb of RAM. Pheonix is a lot less reliant on hardware than RF and has adjustments in the sim options to turn down or turn up graphic details.

Download the demo and see how it plays on your computer. I would still contact them though because the computer is not so much the issue as your video card.

I contacted Phoenix today. They said to run the demo & if that ran.
It should work on my computer. I ran it. The only thing I noticed on
the demo was that you could choose high, medium, or low quality.
When I clicked on high, there were some lines on the left side of my
screen. Otherwise, everything looked like any other sim I've seen in
the stores.

I hope it works.

You can purchase the Phoenix sim directly from Phoenix. I would
assume it is shipped from England. Just go to the Phoenix website.

Was your Dell loaded up when you purchased it? Or pretty much
a basic computer? That's super that the sim runs on it!

check out heliguy.com, took about 10 days to arrive from the UK and the Tx connector and shipping were cheaper than from Phoenix, saved a few $$ and its the best sim Ive seen.

it was loaded. My family also has a basic dimension 4700 desktop (same age as the xps) that i can dl the demo on tomorrow to test out. I imagine it is very similar in specs/stats to yours.

thanks for that heliguy link!

Edit: installed the demo on the other comp and it runs medium 1024x 724 perfectly and on a 10 year old monitor. Looks great in medium so i'd say you'll be fine. only difference i can tell between med/high is texture detail of landscapes/backgrounds/water.
