Default Newbie & a Raptor 50..?

<p class="MsoNormal">I got this Raptor 50 in on a trade from an experienced heli flyer. I have a brave soul and willing to start out with this bird. I&rsquo;ve been doing a lot homework and thinking about getting Real Flight (heli) 6.5 and master as much as I can before flying. I also know somebody that&rsquo;s going to help me program and teach me how to fly this bird too.<o></o></p><p class="MsoNormal">Have any of you started out with a Raptor 50 and what was your experience..? Thx<o></o></p>

The bigger they are the easier they are to fly. If you have somoene to help you out, and a good sim, then you will be miles ahead of starting with a plastic toy.

Raptor 50 was my first one. I was flying planes for almost 20 years and wanted to try a heli. I found a good deal on the raptor 50 rtf and 9303 radio for about $650. I fueled it up and took it to the field. For the first tank all I did was lift it off, hover for a few seconds and set it back down to let me fingers stop shaking. Did that for a whole tank or 2, then when I started getting familiar with it I started moving it around. A sim is a great idea and is probably the best way to go, but it can be done with out one.

So far to date I would say that 80% (knock on wood) has all been mechanical related.
