Default Help, covering Guillows P-47

I need some advise on covering a small ( 30' WS) Guillows P-47. I'm affraid Monocote will break some frame work. Model will be flown w/electric motor, elev.and aileron control.
Will Jap. Tissue be the thing to use? if so, what glue and dope will be used?

Thanks

butches,

If you want to use an iron-on covering, there are light-weight alternatives out there. For instance Tower Hobbies sells something they call Towerkote. It's light, cheap and functional. There are other alternatives with various selling points, but TowerKote is used routinely by a flying buddy of mine and he says it's easy to apply and plenty strong for his little birds.

Just my thoughts,

Erik

plastic film will shrink too much for the 1/16 balsa stringers.use silkspan.used to be available in 3 weights.use light or medium.stronger than jap tissue.

I've built several Guillows kits when I was a child I miss those stick and tissuen kits[]
I used Aerogloss(sp.) dope straight on the framework as glue for the supplied tissue. Then I misted the tissue with water to shrink the covering.
Let it dry for several days. Then thin more of the same dope and spray colored dope to paint and harden the tissue.
