Default Estes, Air Force One, 747

I bought an Estes Air Force One 747, with 4 EDF's at a yard sale. It was designed to use differencial thrust as steering control, and full power to climb, no power to desend. It has 4 little ducted fans running brushed motors size 130s, each motor pulled 6 amps on 9.6 vdc which was what they had for power, but I don't think 8 little AAA nicads 650mah were going to put out a total of 24 amps, not for very long anyway.

It is all EPP foam and nicely painted.

I tore it apart as soon as I got it home (after I checked and marked the CG of the stock plane) I found a perfect place to put 2 servos for the tail surfaces, inside a compartment behind the wing, then rewired the motors to 2 brushed speed controls because I didn't have a single one large enough. Wired the inner motors to one esc, and the outer motors to the other.

Changed the electronics to a Spektrum system, and installed a 1800 3s 35c Hyperion lipo, above the wing, cut into the EPP foam.

It flew GREAT, sounds fantastic, 4 EDF's screaming is a very different sound.Seeing a 747 looping is cool.

I probably should have used 7.4 volts, because on the second flight, I burned out one motor, but I liked it so much, I am going to change it to 4 brushless motors and 4 ESC's, It will probably go balistic, may be be able to do some 3D because the inside motors blow right across the tail surfaces.
