i have heard about drilling out the stinger to make it breath easier. i wouldnt mess with the inside. tuned exhausts are made specially so the backpresure can give the engine more power. if u mess with the inside of ur exhaust it can have the wrong timing and u will loose performance.

u want a more powerful pipe then just buy a new pipe, its an easy performance increaser and is relatively cheap. ive got a trinity for sale if your interested. 35 shipped. either go with a trinity or THS.

if you cut out the baffle then all you have is a blue resonator cause the resonator does not run a baffle.

i read in xrc car magazine that you can take the baffle out ot the pipe... so unless that mag is wrong then it can be done

the mag is wrong dude........the only way to improve exhaust performance is to buy a new pipe...

If you take out the baffle you have a resonator if you want pics for proof I will take them oh and the pressure valve on the resonator is a lil bigger also.

Wouldn't you have to cut the pipe into 2 peices to get the baffle cone out?

ORIGINAL: Clymer122693

the pressure valve on the resonator is a lil bigger also.
The resonator does not run a baffle and so it needs a bigger prsure valve so that the engine will have enought back pressure to run, 2 stroke engines need a certain amount of back pressur or they will not run properly. So if you cut out the baffle you will not have a resonator pipe cause the resonator has more backpressure. So what you should do is just buy a ths pipe or a Tsias exaust. ANd whatever you do do not cut out the baffle your engine will not run properly. BUT you could drill out the stinger, it will only give a small amount of performance gain and should not mess with the backpressure. Hopefully that answeres your question as everybodys posts did not from what i can see.

^^^thank you for some comon sense....what he says is exactly true. if u want better performance and cant afford anything drill out the stinger. if you can afford to spend a few bucks by a tuned pipe for whatever motor ur runing. its not worth tearing into ur stock exhaust and messing things up.

well its already pretty thin...try and use a drillbit that can barely fit in the stinger..then drill out...make sure its level so u dont warp the stinger or break through it. when ur done...wash it out so there is no metal shavings in the pipe....let it dry and bolt it back on.
