Sometimes the answer is not as simple as "fill it up".
For normal everyday bashing filling it up is fine.
But if I'm tuning then I generally only fill the tank 1/2 full. The reason is the different fuel levels in the tank will affect the amount of fuel pressure being delivered to the carb. This can effect tuning over the range of fuel level in the tank. By tuning to a 1/2 full tank you will get the best overall tune. Tune to a full tank and you may well end up with a pretty lean condition when the tank is near empty. By tuning at 1/2 full the engine is slightly rich with a full tank, perfect at 1/2 tank and only slightly lean near empty.

thanks daveG55...know its clear,ive noticed when the tank is in half the engine idles,and when its full it shuts down

You are describing the opposite of what should be happening, unless you are running overly rich at full tank and your truck is bogging at low RPMs and struggling to idle..
