Default Dornier DO 28

Hi Everyone,

I am currently building a 96 inches wingspan Dornier DO 28 Skyservant out of aluminum, because of the high wing, and engine configuration, it should be a joy to fly.

The airplane has a wing span of 96, and will be powered by 2 Enyas .80's four cycle.

The full size dornier Do 28 Skyservant is a taildrager, has a wingspan of 52 ft, carries 14 people, and its powered by two 350 hp lycomings, the engines are installed on small stubby wings under the main wings, Its fuselage has a square cross section, Like I said, this would make a interesting project and joy to fly ...You can look it up at any search engines. (I will post photos later)

If any one es interested to tackle a different project, this will be a great one, by the way, three views are available from Bob Bankas scale research.

Default RE: Dornier DO 28

Hello Metalplane.
Nice machine, the do28. I just finished one, but it's not the Skyservant; (=Do28D) but the original Do28A. It was derived from the Do27, basically it's the same fuselage as the 27 but a twin. It was operated a lot by Air America in Korea (yes they really existed) for shortfield operations. The Do28A had a stall speed of 46 kts. yessir, forty-six knots!
My model (pic in attachment) has a span of 94 inches but weighs 6.5 kilos -14 lbs- and that worries me; the do28 has a nice span but a modest chord -not a lot of wingsurface. I'm afraid it won't be very STOL... (you plan to make one of metal? beware of the final weight!) Power is two OS FS70 surpass. Wheelpants are omitted. Maidenflight some time next week. Wish me luck....
