Convair 580/5800 Plans
After scouring the internet several time over many months I cannot find plans for a Convair 580 or 5800.
My son currently is a pilot in a 5800 and really want to build this plane.
Anyone know where to get started?

RE: Convair 580/5800 Plans
Hi
You can try Kelowna Flightcraft in Kelowna BC. They build the 5800 out of the 580. It is basically fuselage extension both sides of the wing and turbines, plus a million other invisible changes.
KFC hold the type certificates for most Convair passenger series now . and I think they would be helpful; with whatever drawings they have.
I found a set of 240 plans on the net , not sure if they would any help.

Also try RCScale, the moddeleers and vendors here will help any way they can
Cheers
Gregg

Depends on what you want to build it out of and power it with.
I built a scratch foam, wood and fiberglass CV-580 about 13 years ago and then later published a small article on an electric flight web site. Here is the article (keep in mind this is a really old article and there have been a million performance upgrades to electric flying models these days, you can make these giant scale now):

If you want to scratch build in the above technique there are a few new books out there detailing how to do it:

Carl Bachhuber's 580 (BIG doesn't even begin to describe it... really really really cool....)
