Pica Duellist
Thought I'd post some photos of my Duellist #3..Built my first one about 12 years ago. It had a short, but exciting career until it did a 90 degree nose dive into the turf at 2/3 throttle from an altitude of 60 feet. [:'(] I really loved how the Duellist performed (until that point), So I built a second one a couple of years later (powered by OS .45's). The first one was powered by YS .45's.....one was destroyed in the aforementioned crash.[&o] Like my first one, #3 is powered by a pair of YS 45's, and unlike the first two, I have installed Robart retracts. I also modified the lead edge in the ares between the engine nacells to accomodate 10 oz. fuel tanks instead of the original 8 oz. shown on the plans. I have also beefed up former F1 with an addition of a 3/32 aircraft ply former in front of the lite ply F1 and reinforced the area with tri stock and PFM adhesive. As you can see, I've also adapted the Mark II type vertical stab and rudder. I kept the incidences per Pica plans.
I'll post more photos and more detail if there seems to be an interest.

RE: Pica Duellist
Nice job! My Duelly #1 was short lived....the engine-out-pilot-error monster took it to an early grave after about 2 months. The wing was useable but the fuse will have to be completely rebuilt.
So...Duelly #1.5 will be my winter project and have the Mk II mods. I had already modified the nacelles to be 0 degrees to the wing so it's ready to go. Can't wait to get that one up again....such a smooth flying bird

RE: Pica Duellist
Why did you decide to stay with the "Twisted" version?
Dave Platt released the Duellist 2/40 Mk II just about a year after the original (which Pica still supplies and does not credit Platt for the design) and other than the obvious change to the vertical fin and rudder the biggest difference is setting all angles to zero. If you set the thrust line 0-0 to the wing you've effectively done the same thing, though. Did you?
Bill.
