Default YS FZ 1.10...

I had an unfortunate, hmmm, incident with one of my airplanes with a FS 1.10 last weekend... The airplane died, but the 1.10 seems to have survived the incident relatively unscathed... Almost... I purchased the 1.10 new and it has about 3 gallons of 20/20 through it...

I mounted the 1.10 on a backup airframe and fired it up to see if it was ok... The crank was not bent and runout is excellent on the crank... The valve cover did sustain a crack, but was sealed with JB Weld and is airtight... New gasket made for the valve cover and is airtight also...

The issue I am experiencing is that the engine has very poor throttle response under 1/2 throttle... Once the engine spools up, it runs fine above 1/2 throttle, but below 1/2 throttle it's sluggish and acts like it extremely lean... The needle settings have not changed, but I have tried richening / leaning the bottom end to no avail... I can block the air intake on the carb and the engine will not choke out, but continues to run...

Is it possible the regulator is out of whack and needs to be adjusted??? Would adjusting the regulator screw out improve low end response... Does this sould like an air leak somewhere???

-or-

Should I just box it up and send it in for a checkup???

Sounds like a crack in the airbox or possibly where it plugs into the carb. The airbox is easily tweaked in a crash. Check it out.

The airbox is not cracked and all bolts are tight... I went over the entire engine and with the exception of the valve cover, there was no damage... It wasn't a hard crash... Airplane dropped on it's nose from about 10 feet at low power...
