Default ZDZ-80 RV-J Super

With the piston at TDC is the correct mounting of the hall sensor 7mm to the right (looking at the front) ?

Is there a downloadable manual at all? I need information on the carb and the fuel lines, venting etc.

Thanx

Yes - close enough-
carb is just like any other - a fuel supply line and leave the vent line on the cover alone
All the new 80J engines I have seen, cover the engine setup .

If you want to download and take a look at the basic directions for all ZDZ motors try this -

www.zdz-motor.de It is available in both English and German.

On the top of the main page you should see a scroll list. Just press the arrow until you see
Print of Directions for ZDZ engines/Price list.
Your need the Adobe Acrobat to see and print!
Hope this helps,

I noticed on my brand new ZDZ 50 NG that the TDC is just a hair higher than the web on the left side looking from the front. This web on the left is supposed to be TDC when the magnet lines up with it. It's close enough but my magnet was just a 1/16" or so higher than the web at TDC. I marked it with a sharpy. The point is that if you are close it will be fine. That's what I've heard from knowledgable people like Dick Hanson (sorry for the pressure Dick). It ended up between the black marks on my engine.

Let's take it one step further. Since I had to do this on my new 50 NG today I thought I'd snap some close-up's. This is as close to 6 mm as I could get. Good enough I'd say.

My doc's said 6mm (it was 5mm crossed out with a hand-written 6 next to it).

Look at my post #5. That's a picture of the right side of the engine (right-sitting in cockpit that is). TDC is when that circular pickup shape on the prop hub is in line with the right-side web of the crank case.

You can verify by pulling the plug and looking to see the piston at the very top to make sure, but its the only web with two screw holes either side of it.

Its hard to mess this up.

Aircraft safety wire on the muffler - great idea. ALSO dont forget to block off the smoke port, otherwise it will make for a messy engine compartment
