measuring c/l to c/l?
try this:
get the Falkon book and look at the picture - the written info may not sound right to you , due to the translation.
but it really isn't important.
What is important is that the picture is correct
note-
The picture shows the engine lying on it's side -
Now do this :
find TDC - by simply looking in exhaust port till piston appears to be at top --then look at the prop hub bolts--two of em (180 apart), will be almost vertically aligned with the two VERTICAL crankcase webs.
move the crankshaft a bit till the bolts are in line - -
Now -again look at the picture - (A)
centerline of magnet and c/ of pickup should be 7mm apart.
If not -- loosen the two screws holding th plastic ring and move it -usually (in fact in every one I have seen) to full movement to the right -as shown in the picture and that has always been - about 7mm.
A fully charged 4.8 v battery should be used -
The carb set at about 1.5 turns open on each needle and the idle stop open a little bit -and it should start and run -
some needle adj will surely be needed once it is warmed up
any change from this ignition position is of no value in every test we have done.
All of these I have seen start quite easily if bat is fresh and the engine is setup so that you can see that it draws fuel and the cab is open -just a bit. NEVER at full.
