When I stand them on end, it's easy to see the difference. Plywood on the left is 3-ply, while the one on the right is high quality 5-ply. With a wing as large as the Citabria has, the struts are not for decoration, they help support the mammoth wing.

As I was tending to the aileron hinges, I noticed something on the plans that I overlooked. The mounting plates for the wing strut! It wasn't a big deal to cut out a bit of the rib capping and fit the plywood plates in. (Epoxy was used.)

I glued in al the balsa hinge blocks on the wing's TE for the ailerons. While the glue was drying, I made another jig.

I use the G-10 on the ends of all the control surfaces as well as the this small wedge. This gives additional strength, but the real reason for using it is that I need not use any covering, it's ready for primer!

The control side of the hinge flaps are made from 1/8" G-10. These pieces remind me of shackles on a car, so I will refer to them as such. G-10 is super strong, and can be purchased in different thickness.

Each shackle is made-up from three separate pieces of G-10. Thin CA was used to bond the pieces together. I don't use CA very often, but this is a good use for it...

Second and final coat of Resin applied over the fiberglass strips. The firewall is nicely tied into the fuselage now.

I cut the shackles on my band saw. G-10 is pretty tough on blades, but it's manageable if you use a metal cutting blade.

Drilled the ends of the flap hinges .070". I used a simple jig to ensure each hinge hole was the same distance from its end.

The two outer flap hinges were too close to the ends which necessitated a 1/4" fir strip to get them shimmed out a bit.
